Marisa's Supereasy Fitness Plan(2)

Do you diet?
I don’t starve myself. Anyone who knows me will tell you I have an appetite. I’d much rather work out and not diet than not work out and have to diet. A lot of models don’t eat and smoke cigarettes all day because they don’t work out. I eat mostly organic, but I love macaroni and cheese, Mexican food, and egg-and-cheese croissants. So when I indulge, I eat protein and veggies for the rest of the day. It really is all about moderation and balance.

What’s your best stay-slim trick?
For breakfast, I have steel-cut oatmeal with a couple tablespoons of maple syrup, a little milk, and sliced bananas. When I start out with something a bit heavier like that in the morning, I eat better for the rest of the day. People say you shouldn’t eat carbs, but that’s crap. I just try to stay away from white ones.

What are your favorite healthy snacks?
I’ll have an apple with some wedges of Laughing Cow cheese, and I also like Flavor and Fiber bars. For dessert, I’ll melt some chocolate and drizzle it over bananas or strawberries.

Living with a guy can wreak havoc on your diet. Is your husband a bad influence?
Griffin eats terribly, and I gained a lot of weight when we first met. I hadn’t had soda in about five years, and I came home one day to find this thing in the fridge that rolls soda cans out like a dispenser. I’m like, What are you doing to me?

How do you stay fit?
My body is like a science project.... I’ve tried everything. I grew up surfing, and I love boxing and Spinning — my legs get so tight when I Spin. But I travel all the time and can’t make classes, so I have moves that I can do in my hotel room. I love resistance bands because you can toss one in your bag, and they work your muscles without bulking them up. When I have a big shoot or show coming up, I work with a trainer for an hour a day. I tell her, “I want to keep my curves but look toned. I want things to bounce but not jiggle!
